Governor's 11/2/20 Update & Your Club

Hello #strongertogether team!

What a week it has already been! To those of you who participated in the very first Class Mash-Up last Saturday: thank you! We had such a blast that we have decided to make it a monthly event. Stay tuned for details regarding December 5th’s Mash-Up!

And now, let’s discuss the pressing issues at hand:

First, we are open. And will continue to do stay open. Given the Governor’s update on Monday, many of you have asked whether the orders will affect your gym. The short answer is: it won’t. The Workout Club is a private business that chose to operate conservatively and well under the capacity limits from the inception of our reopening which means the town-wide step-back does not affect class size, gym capacity, or operations any differently than what we exceptionally and responsibly manage every day. We continue to communicate with the Board of Health, state and government representation, and other colleagues in the area to ensure we are exceeding the expectations set forth for us.

In fact, we remain surprised that the Governor still insists on bucketing gyms in with Phase 3 businesses. In a recent Massachusetts publication regarding the research behind outbreaks, Gyms were not even listed as hotspots or transmission points for COVID clusters. There has been no evidence linked to a greater risk transmission of COVID in a gym – especially in privately owned and operated fitness centers. We remain steadfast in ensuring this track record, but can only do so with your ongoing support.

Second, thank you for all you do to make our gym a safe place for our community to attend. We have appreciated you wearing your mask inside the gym and while walking around outside, watching your distance from other members, cleaning your equipment after use, and respecting all of the new rules within which we operate. The Workout Club has navigated the new COVID world with respect and sincerity – and for that, we are grateful! As a reminder, if you or anyone in your household has been exposed to COVID, please seek out a test and follow the CDC protocols for self-quarantining before returning to the gym. Similarly, if you or anyone in your household is feeling sick or has flu-like symptoms, please stay home until everyone is symptom free for 72 hours! As one of our members so eloquently stated, “the only way we will get through this is through cooperation!”

Finally, we will closely monitor the ongoing situation as it unfolds and take each day hour by hour. We have secured close to 7800 square feet of inside space next door to the Workout Club (the former Family Dollar!) and will begin preparing the inside for a safe indoor studio option once we move outdoor classes due to weather considerations. Out of an abundance of caution, we will continue to stay outside (14 feet away!) so please dress in layers and bring your sense of humor! We thank you for your flexibility, understanding, and cooperation.

As always, the Workout Club is entirely committed to your overall wellness – your mind, body, and soul have been, and always will be, our top priorities. If you need additional support, or you have suggestions, or want to offer ideas: please always reach out.

Keep up the awesome work,

Colleen
